I send my sympathy to Christine's family. I have a vinyl album and cassettes of the sisters singing and have been a fan since they appeared on the Arthur Godfrey show. I always liked their close harmony and in elementary school tried to form a group so we could sing like them. We would practice over lunch time and found how difficult it was to harmonize. Our teacher had an old tape recorder and let us record our progress. We played it back and did not realize how horrible we sounded. With no one to give us any help we quickly abandoned the idea of a singing group.
I never gave up on the dream of singing with someone in close
harmony and years later found another voice that blended with
mine. This was in college, and we did not pursue a singing career, but I did experience the joy of harmony that sounded good.
I will always be grateful for the McGuire Sisters and their
lovely voices. Sincerely, Lee
