RUTH WELLS Ruth Wells (nee Lutz), of Las Vegas, passed away Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, at the age of 87. Ruth was born April 2, 1929, to Otto and Katharina Lutz, in Mannheim, Germany. She grew up as one of six children during World War II. Ruth married Tom Wells in 1956 and the couple had seven children. In 1966, the family moved to a small town in Indiana to live on a farm. She loved gardening and taking care of the animals. In 1970, city life called and the family moved to Las Vegas, where she took a position at the Imperial Palace in the retail shop where she worked for 30 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Wells; grandson, Indiana Rain Wells; parents, Otto and Katharina Lutz; sister, Imgard Lutz; and brother, Erich Lutz. Ruth is survived by her sons, Danny (Tammy), Jerry (Cindy), Brian, Donny and Ronny (Lisa); daughters, Diane (Rune) Johnson and Charmaine (Garth) Ripton; brothers, Walter (Astrid) Lutz and Herbert (Lottie) Lutz; sister, Edith (Hans) Esser; nine grandchildren, Megan, Kaylee, Jacob, Jessica, Jonathon, Gretchen, Rune, Matthew and Gabriella; great-grandchildren, Troy and Grant (expected in May); nieces, Carmen and Susanna; and nephews, Ralf and Erich. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Service will be at 3 p.m. Friday, March 3, at Affordable Cremation and Burial, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. The family is grateful for the condolences, but declines flowers and donations. "Rest in peace, Ruth. You will remain in our hearts forever."
