Stephen Barton Obituary

Stephen F. Barton was born in Shawnee, OK Jan 1, 1942 to Margaret and W. Frank Barton and died January 10, 2018 at the age of 76 in Las Vegas, NV.

In the early 1980s, Steve left Wichita for Las Vegas. He began his career in Vegas by opening a marine shop on boulder highway and maintained his career as a local businessman and investor in Vegas. Steve's interest in unique and custom cars began as a teenager; his first car was a 1929 model A that he customized and worked on himself. When he was no longer able to do the work, he found others to fulfill his visions of one of a kind automotive masterpieces. He married Mary Boblett in 1997 and they later divorced. Steve loved his family and watching his grandchildren grow up.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Clay Barton and sister Shera Barton. He is survived by sister Linda Barton Wiens, (Don) of Texas, brother Craig Barton, step mother Patsy Cain Barton, niece Lisa Wiens Thompson, (Zach) and their children, all of Wichita. Survivors also include his step son Joe Boblett, (Maria) of Las Vegas and their 5 children and step daughter Teresa Halliwell, (Christopher) of Florida and their 3 children. A memorial service will be held at 10am February 24, 2018. Davis Funeral Home at 6200 S. Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV. Rev. Dr. Lisa Thompson will preside. A family graveside service in Wichita, KS will take place in the spring. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Steve's favorite charities; the US Olympic & Paralympics Foundation; Attn: Cathy Wilkerson; 1 Olympic Plaza; Colorado Spring, CO 80909 and Wounded Warrior Project; PO Box 758517; Topeka, KS 66675-8517.

Stephen was a friend and business associate. He loved to talk about his cars and projects. He had a pension for winning random auctions at Tiffany's, and his house was a museum dedicated to his collection. I last spoke to him just weeks before he passed, he just said he was fighting a cold... He will be missed. Even today I still look at our pictures and remember, from laughing at and being annoyed by Mayweather's loud parties, to sitting in the garage, sipping a drink, and recounting every detail, of every car... Rest in Peace my friend. Warren Buffet isn't half the man you were!

Wow, what a class act. Like most of the people making comments here I knew him by watching Counting Cars. He had an impeccable taste in classic cars. Best collection I ever seen. Each car one of a kind and each better than the one b4. GOD BLESS HIM. Rest in peace my brother.

Condolences to Linda and all the Barton family. Steve and I went to High School together and continued to keep in touch. We had so much fun enjoying cars together over these many years. He had such a wide range of knowledge concerning cars...especially Cadillacs.
RIP Steve.

Stephen's entreprenueral and investment nous or innate ability gave him opportunity for realizing his life ambition. He found suitable rewards to his ambition. He has rest from his work and may his family be gratified for him. Psalms 62:11, 12.
