Susan Brand Obituary

Susan Ann Brand, 79, of Henderson, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 after a long battle with COPD. She died at home peacefully with her family close by. Susan was born in the Black Hills area of South Dakota on April 28, 1941.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ailai Bennett and a granddaughter, Kaitilin Robinson. She is survived by her husband of almost 40 years, Richard Brand, her children Melani Robinson, Craig (Dana) Robinson, her step-children Sharon Drummond and Richard Brand, Jr. and grandchildren, Morgan Miller, Chelsea Miller, Michael Drummond, Kristin Robinson, and Sophia Robinson.

Susan graduated from UNLV with her Bachelors and Masters in Education and served as a teacher and administrator in the Clark County School District where she ultimately retired as an elementary school Principal. She had a deep love of education and family and loved to talk everything politics with her expansive group of friends. Among her many life accomplishments, Susan was crowned Miss South Dakota before she left the Black Hills to pursue her education. She was an accomplished aerobatic pilot and this love of flying brought her together with her husband, Richard. On most weekends, she could be found flying her airplane "Plumb Crazy" through the Las Vegas skies. Susan passionately served on numerous Boards including the United Way of Southern Nevada and the Sun Youth Camp.

A memorial celebration will be planned in the summer, when all her friends can attend safely. Those that would like to receive notification of final plans of the memorial celebration can reach out to her son, Craig, at [email protected].
