TED GREENHALGH

TED GREENHALGH Ted Greenhalgh, of Las Vegas, lost his courageous battle against cancer Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 82. He passed away at home surrounded by his loving family. Ted was born Dec. 26, 1929 in Neola, Utah. He was the eldest son of William and Sevella Wilson Greenhalgh's 13 children. He and his brother Ned were named after their father's horse team. His adventuresome spirit was reflected in the jobs he held as coal miner, seismic exploration "doodlebug," and hard-rock miner in Alaska. He joined the U.S. Army in 1951 and served honorably as a tank crewman and commander in Germany, protecting beer gardens and frauleins. After leaving the service, he roamed the West and generally caroused with his brother and sidekick Ned until he met the love of his life and future wife, Marla, whom he married in 1960 and, against all odds, stayed married to until his passing. He resumed his academic career at the University of Wyoming, where he graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1963. He served as an aerospace engineer for the U.S. Air Force, traveling the globe until his retirement to Las Vegas in 1989. He was a Wyoming Cowboys fanatic and loved nothing better than to watch them play UNLV. He was an immensely proud father and doting grandfather. He especially enjoyed attending the many events of his grandsons, Grant and Ben. He was unselfish, kind, and always thinking of others. He will be dearly missed by his five children, Kurt, Christopher, Teddy, Kent, and Gwen; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; wife, Marla; and Bandit.
