THELMA BOYD Thelma C. Boyd, 73, of Las Vegas, passed away Oct. 22, 2014. She was born Aug. 31, 1941, in Thomson, Ga. She was retired from the Anchorage School District, where she worked for 19 years as an administrator and high school principal. She is survived by husband, of 52 years, Sammie Boyd; daughters, Della Boyd (Tony Weatherly) of Las Vegas, and Dr. Andrea Boyd of Chicago; siblings, Juanita (Moses) Wheeler, John (Mia) Cummings, Eddie Mae (Nathaniel) Collins, Dr. Shirley Reams and Sandra Scott; grandchildren, Dre Lynn and Terrence; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29. Services will be at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, both at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89123. Burial will follow at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Boulder City.

This is so shocking to me. I were just looking up Thelma number to call her and this is what I found. She is gone. I sadful to here that she is gone. She will be missed. I love you Thelma and you have did so much for me and my family. I thank you dearly. May you rest in peace. Seem as I just talked with you yesterday and now you gone. You gave me many advices in life and were a great role model to all women.

Thelma was a good friend during our years of working together at West High. After a parent conference with an unreasonable parent with outrageous demands, Thelma and I began preferring to each other as "Miss Molly". I have no memory of the parent nor the exact circumstances of the situation. What I do remember is an educator who cared deeply for the students and teachers she served. Thelma will always hold have a special place in my heart. Rest in peace, Miss Molly.
