My heartfelt condolences go out to Lisa Gay Drake and the Drake family. Anthony/Tony( I have always referred to him as "Drake") and I have had a friendship that began decades ago in the city of Compton. He was one of my first friends when I moved to California. We got our first jobs together, our drivers licenses, our first cars at the same time, and through our love of music, started our first singing group at the age of fifteen. As we grew older, we had less contact, but he remained as one of my most memorable friends. I always kept up with his professional journey which brought joy to my heart to see that he was pursuing the thing that he loved to do from back in our teenage years. I hold dear in my heart the memories of him and his dear mother Velma, she always tried to keep us in line along with my mother Thelma. Velma and Thelma, what a team! Drake will be sorely missed, but I am so thankful that God placed him my path during those important formative years. The impact he had on me has never left my soul. I pray that God will hold your hand during this difficult time. Peace be with you.
