Walter Mink Obituary

After a long illness and much suffering, Walter C. Mink Jr. could finally go to rest. He was born in Newark, N.J. Son of Walter Charles and Dorothy Craig Mink. He attended Newberry College and Naval Academy in South Carolina, followed by Georgia Tech where he got his degree in engineering. He joined the U.S. Navy as a lieutenant and was stationed in the Azores. After leaving the Navy he was hired by Standard Oil-Esso as a fleet manager in Aruba, where he lived for quite a few years, until he returned to New York. He joined Mobil Oil as vice president and general manager in charge of Mobil's Fleet and Transportation, which meant at times traveling all over the world. After retiring he and his wife moved to Las Vegas. He is survived by his loving wife, Cathy; loved sons, Marc and Richard and daughter-in-law, Susan; adored grandsons, Peter and William. It is a very sad time for us to lose him, but he has now gone to a better place. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at Palm Mortaury, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Interment will be private. Family asks that memorial donations be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice.
