Deanna and Hank....My thoughts and prayers are with you as you and your family grieve the loss of your dear Butchie. No parent should have to bury their child. I grew up in just such a family. We mourn, we get through...but we never forget. The last time I saw Butchie, he was a little guy following his dad around. He was so sweet to me...his mother's childhood friend from California. I wish I could have known him as an adult. The wonderful words and memories shared by all the people in this guest book make me wish I'd kept closer ties with my Michigan family. The love that comes through all these people attest to the powerful spirit that was your Butchie. I pray for healing love to grace the entire Deblouw family.

I had just gotten to know Butch over the last few years and I am saddened that I don't get the opportunity to know him better. He was a "stand-up guy" and a man of word. Dear Deblouw Family,
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Even though I hadn't seen Butchie since we were kids, my brother Bill sure loved him very much and truly admired him. What I remember most about Butchie is that he always had a smile on his face. He was always happy and kind to everyone he met, even us younger kids in the neighborhood. From what I hear he became even a better man, father, and husband. It's hard to understand God's plan sometimes. It just doesn't seem fair that so many of the good ones leave this life so early. May God comfort you during this tragic time. May he give you strength and perseverance to carry on till you meet again with our Father in Heaven. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
With deepest sympathy, John Dunn

To the DeBlouw family:

My deepest sympathies and prayers for your family. I know that Butch was (as my sister in law put it) "really a one of a kind good guy. Do anything he could for anyone". I know he was a very dear friend to my brother Jim. I think no matter what the occasion, there was always a story with Butch in it and it always had us laughing.

The impact Butch has left on the lives of not only my brother and sister-in-law but many others will never be forgotten.

God had a plan for you Butch, please watch over your family and friends always. Rest in peace.

There aren't words to describe how sorry we are for your loss. Butch was always so friendly and cheerful running into him at hockey games and during the Joe Dumars basketball league. He gave some of the Little Caesar Hockey Boys a taste of farming and what hard work was when they worked at the farm for a few days about 4 years ago. A great experience for all of them. Butch was a true gentleman and had a heart of gold. The world was a better place because of him.

I talked with Mr. Deblouw a few times during the kids sports games and found him to be such an easy going person. He treated the boys to breakfast, when the other baseball team did not show up, and he did not worry about the cost of the bill. He was a good basketball coach. My son reminded me that Henry had to take him to meet me on 23 Mile Rd (I had one of my blond moments) when I forgot to pick him up from practice. Mr. Deblouw talked very fondly about his family and was VERY proud of them. God did take one of the best. He will be greatly missed.

A pillar of the community, a foundation from which the rest of us could rely on. No matter what changes time would bring to our community, "Butchie" was always one of those persons the rest of us could gravitate back to. He was just... "Butchie". You will be missed my friend.

Now you can take a moment to show my dad all those "baseball cards" you saved, for each "hit" you got in little league. Say hi for me, will you?
