I often remember Tarik calling and offering sound advice when my dad had a stroke. It wasn´t the doctors in Canada that saw us through the challenges but Tarik. In his kind and caring matter he told us what to expect and even called his colleagues to get a second opinion. What an incredibly loving person who was taken too soon and yet was able to leave his mark on all those who knew him. Luckily I was one of those people.

I was walking in the hallway at Loyola and I saw a beautiful picture of a smile I will never forget and thought that is Dr Ibrahim!! As I read the plaque I kept thinking he can't be gone , the world needs his incredible loving heart! My family met Tarik when my daughter was at Lurie's where he was doing his peds rotation. He was so kind and so gentle in spirit. He sat one night at my daughter's bedside and I asked him "Why neurosurgery?" He smiled and said "because the good is so good" and I replied "but the bad is so bad" and he just nodded. Later that night my daughter had a complication and became critical, she pulled through and was able to smile, talk and move her arms again after surgery. That morning when I ran into Tarik he looked at me with a huge smile and I said "This is the good isn't it?" he smiled ear to ear and said "Yes". He was amazing young man and made such an impression on all whose hearts he touched. You must be so proud of the incredible person and physician he became. He will never be forgotten, his memory will live on in those who were blessed and honored with having known such a remarkable person.

We just learned of Tarik's passing of a year ago. My mother, Anna, suffered from trigeminal neuralgia and Dr. Ibrahim assisted Dr. Anderson on her brain surgery last May. My mom had her yearly follow up today where Dr. Andersen told her of Dr. Ibrahim's passing a month after he assisted him in my mom's surgery. I remember Dr. Ibrahim talked with me and my five brothers and sisters after her surgery was over. He was kind, informative, soft spoken, and even after three plus hours of surgery, answered each and every question we had. Dr. Ibrahim gave us our mom back. He cured her symptoms, relieving my mom of debilitating pain. He was kind to her and helped her even after her surgery while she was recovering. He touched our lives and allows us to enjoy my mom every day. I will always remember and be grateful for Dr. Ibrahim's blessed heart and hands. May he live in the all the glory God's heaven holds. He was a special person who will never be forgotten by our family. Thank you Dr. Ibrahim.

Dear Mona and Fikry,
I will always remember Tariq playing soccer with my son Paul as a gentle curious and shy young boy who was fun to be with. We where all blessed to be with him.I just learned that h became a neurosurgeon and can see now where his gentleness went to in approaching the most difficult of human operations in the brain. I also just learned of his sudden death and wish to express to you and all your family that my hope is and I will pray that I meet Tariq in Heaven when I die and that all of us yours and our families similarly meet there to bask forever in God''s light warmth and endless Love.
With warm affection and love

My deepest sympathy. I just received news that Dr Ibrahim has passed.
He was my son's doctor at Loyola and I am deeply sadden to hear this.
He went above and beyond to take care of Nathan and always asked how I was.
I truly believe God placed him on our path and I am so thankful to have met him. He is truly an amazing doctor that touched many lives.
I pray for his parents and his entire family.
God-Bless

Peace Be Upon Him (PBUH)
Some words for you by Rabindranath Tagore:
"Peace, my heart, let the time for the parting be sweet.
Let it not be a death but completeness.
Let love melt into memory and pain into songs.
Let the flight through the sky end in the folding of the wings over the nest.
Let the last touch of your hands be gentle like the flower of the night.
Stand still, O Beautiful End, for a moment, and say your last words in silence.
I bow to you and hold up my lamp to light you on your way."
I want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and yours,

Dear Ibrahim family,
Tarik was an inspiring Chief Resident, and a great mentor for any interested in neurosurgery. In Oct. 2014, as a medical student on his service, I came to know his grace in the operating room, patience in teaching, fondness of 90s hip-hop music, and personality that built friendships easily among colleagues. I've since admired his ability to weave humor and lightheartedness into the grueling hours he and his co-residents dedicated themselves to. I wondered how he kept his bright attitude amidst the demands of his work, and I found my answer in watching him interact with patients. He cared deeply, and I have the utmost respect for the love of his craft and devotion to improving the lives of his patients.
Ibrahim family, you are in my prayers in coping with this tragic loss. I consider it an honor to have worked with him, and more so, to have learned from him. He will be missed.
My deepest sympathies go out to your family,

Tarik rotated through our Burn Intensive Care unit as a first year resident. He only spent one month with us but he will forever be remembered as the kind man and intelligent, skilled physician he was.
Our hearts are broken for his family, his colleagues, his friends, and his patients.... past and future. May all your proudest memories of Tarik bring you peace and comfort. He will truly be missed and never be forgotten.

Dear Mona and Fikry,
I cannot begin to imagine the pain you are feeling for the loss of your son, Tarik. It was at my daughter's wedding last summer where I met Tarik for the first time, that I realized why my three daughters admired their cousin so proudly. It was obvious that this young man was a reflection of the excellent role models you were to him as his loving parents. We need you now, Mona, to continue to be that special role model and matriarch of our Egyptian family . Please know that you are in my heart and most importantly in my prayers.

To Tarik,You died way before your time, but not before leaving your mark on many. I just learned of this yesterday, and cannot be at your memorial, but myself and my family are praying for your family and friends, Heaven has another angel in its midst watching over us, but the world missed out on the full life of a great doctor and man. We are saddened to hear the tragic news of Tarik's passing.
Tarik will forever be in our hearts. We met Tarik 4 1/2 years ago when Paul (my husband) was admitted to Loyola after suffering a stroke. Paul spent the better part of 4 month in the neuro ICU. Tarik had an unbelievable presence about him and always gave our entire family (including our 2 young daughters) so much hope and joy. Our daughters in particular had a special bond with Tarik, one that they will carry with them throughout their lives.
I hope that you find peace knowing the powerful impact Turik had on all of those who he came in contact with - personally and professionally.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Perhaps God is a poet
who writes with words
of flesh and bone and leaf and flower . . .
Every hour of every day,
words pour out of the Poet's heart,
and every word is beautiful and true and worth the telling.
And when each poem is perfect,
and there is no more which ought to be said,
the Poet gently takes the words back into His heart
where they are safe forever . . . and then begins again
