Alfred Layson Obituary

Alfred Bankston Layson, Sr.
November 1, 1932 -
November 26, 2014
Warner Robins, GA- Because of his personal relationship with Jesus Christ, Alfred Bankston Layson, Sr., 82, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, November 26, 2014.
Mr. Layson was born on November 1, 1932 in Monticello, Georgia, to the late Grady and Florence McMichael Layson. He proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force. Mr. Layson was a faithful member of Living Hope Baptist Church in Byron, Georgia. All who were touched by the loving, caring, laughing, hard-working, God-fearing, and giving Al Layson will forever be affected for knowing him. The toll of time, age, and this world's curse of sin has taken a giant of a man. But God's GRACE triumphs! His loving wife, Alberta Jean Button Layson and five siblings preceded him in death.
Mr. Layson's memory will forever be treasured by his children, Sylvia Layson of Warner Robins; Alfred B. Layson, Jr. (Karen) of Guyton, Georgia; Glenn Layson (Jane) of Yelm, Washington; Sherry Grist (Jeff) of Warner Robins; seven grandchildren; and brothers, Hoyt Layson (MaryAnn) and Rayford Layson (Janice).
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Living Hope Baptist Church in Byron. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests that donations be made to the Mission Fund at Living Hope Baptist Church, 3290 Lower Hartley Bridge Road, Byron, Georgia 31008.

It is with sorrow that I learned today of Mr. Layson's passing. I enjoyed seeing him every Sunday when I visited with my Grandmother in Springfield. He was a kind and caring man. He always stopped to talk and ask how our day was going. I have missed seeing him and asked about him today. I will miss his smile and laughter. Such a gentleman.

Another angel/soldier has gone to his Heavenly home. A very sweet loving man. Remembering his smile, jokes and his compassion for people. he seemed to always have time to help out anyone in need. A great Christian man will be missed. Praying for God's strength and comfort for the family. God Bless.

The first time I met Al, he was driving a van with Laysons Mobile Home repair on the side of it. I followed him home and introduced myself. It was then that I found out we were related. He told me to go ask my Dad about "Preacher Man". My Dad knew exactly who I was talking about. "Preacher Man" Al, you will be missed.

Sharing and caring are my fondest memories of Al Layson. Even during his trials, he smiled and took time to lift me up. His mansion has to be fabulous!
