Beatrice Culpepper Obituary

Beatrice Culpepper
Columbus, GA- Beatrice Brooks Rodgers Culpepper, 90 of Columbus, Ga. died Wednesday, October 08, 2014 at the Midtown Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, October 11, 2014 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Richardson and Rev. Udell Addison officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Culpepper was born December 25, 1923 in Columbus, GA daughter of the late Hiram R. Brooks and Velma Rolling Brooks. She retired from the Muscogee County School district, and was a member of Central Baptist Church, ABWA, Gold Stars Wives, and was a 50 year member of the Augusta Evans Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a veritable force of nature. For many years she was the family matriarch and patriarch; she became our rock. She lived to be a great grandmother. She was given a gift of time that her first love and husband, Beauford Rogers, and her devoted daughter, Carolyn, were not.
Mrs. Culpepper was preceded in death by her husbands, Beauford Rodgers, who in 1945 died of wounds during WWII's Battle of the Bulge and Henry B. Culpepper. She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Carolyn Rodgers Newton; granddaughter, Alyssa Culpepper; brothers, Clifford H. Brooks, Cecil B. Brooks, John Robert Brooks, Perry A. Brooks, Sr. and sister, Sara Brooks Britt.
Survivors include her daughter, R. Marie Culpepper Bruner and husband, Larry, of Cataula, Georgia; sons Ronald A. Culpepper and wife, Marina, of Warner Robins, GA; William Bruce Culpepper and wife, Brenda of Waverly Hall, GA; devoted granddaugher, Natalie Newton Butler and husband Jimmy of Forsyth, GA; grandsons, Brian Culpepper (Stephanie), Columbus, GA; Raymond J. Newton, Jr. (Erica), Yulee, FL; and Bradley Culpepper (Jennifer), Waverly Hall; granddaughters, Jennifer Culpepper Bibeau (Charles), Woodstock, GA and Bianca Bowser (Nick), Louisville, KY. sisters, Doris Brooks Sizemore Grocost (Doug), Waverly Hall, GA and Margie Brooks Felgenhouer (Lee), Columbus, GA. brother, George W. Brooks (Maggie), Lizella, GA. sister-in-law- Joyce Brown Brooks and 15 great-grandchildren and a vast extended family and friends.
Those of us left behind to mourn, grieve her passing with the memories she gave and the good she did. We weave together memory and hope.
Go now, to your place of rest. And meet the Lord, your God.

Even though I have not seen cousin Bee Bee a lot as an adult, I remember her, when I was a child, as being a very kind, loving person that made the only fruitcake that I have ever eaten that tasted good. Prayers for strength for the family during this difficult time.

Mrs Bea was a loving mother and one of my Mother's friends. I stayed overnight with her daughter, Marie, at their home on Armour Rd many times. I remember her famous fruitcakes during the holidays. God speed, Mrs. Bea.

Mrs. Culpepper was a dear, dear friend of my Mother Louise Kirkland. She was the sweetest person I ever knew. My heart goes out to the entire family.

Dear Family...
Just a note of sincere sympathy. Bea was a dear friend and we spent many hours together as I too am retired from Muscogee County School Food Service. I'm sorry we didn't stay in touch more after we retired; aging does that I guess. May the sweet memories help with the heavy hearts.

"Bea" was such an inspiration while growing up. I loved being a part of her life as a young girl at the Girls Club and will forever be grateful for her guidance. She was always like our "other mother" and was always there for us. May she rest and in the hands of God. Prayers to all her family.
