I had such great admiration and affection for Ms Bertha. Her everlasting love and devotion to her children and grandchildren was legendary. She was a very remarkable lady. Dear family, try not to be overwhelmed by sadness. Picture her taking some much needed rest or in her case beauty sleep. Then focus your attention on God's wonderful promise of a resurrection also in the near future:"He will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Believe this! You are in my heart and prayers. With sincere sympathy, sherry hatcher

My thoughts and prayers go out to Bertha's family. Bertha cared for me when I was a baby and my parents were attending Mercer University in the late 60's and lived in an apartment near campus. One day my father was leaving the apartment and someone phoned the house for him and Bertha went running to catch him before he pulled out of the driveway. In the process, she ran through a plate glass sliding door and was cut up pretty badly. I guess God was looking out for her as she survived this accident and, obviously, went on to live a long and happy life! My aunt is Peggy Miller whom Bertha worked for for many years. She was like a member of our family!
