Bo Baird Obituary

Bo Baird
June 26, 1944 - December 1, 2022
Macon, Georgia - We're heartbroken to announce that "Bo" Raphael Francis Baird, artist and legendary storyteller, passed away suddenly on Thursday, December 1, 2022. He was born in Macon, GA June 26, 1944, to "Bo" Raphael Francis Baird and Tommie Nell Baird.
He had a great appreciation for nature and believed in taking the scenic route whenever possible. Adventures included hitchhiking across the country in his youth, decades of annual drives up the Blue Ridge Parkway with his family, and endless paddling trips down the Ocmulgee River. He tried to live his life in a peaceful way and enjoyed playing the fiddle, making concrete sculptures, growing his own food, and building boats. He won the 1995 Annual Woodside Croquet Tournament with his homemade mallet, the "Dogwood."
Bo is survived by daughters; Becky Ehalt, Eva Floyd, and Monica Baird; former spouse, Barbara Baird; grandchildren; Adam Ehalt, Mary Beth Ehalt, Sydney Floyd and Nina Floyd; and great-grandson, Leo Ehalt; siblings; Tom Baird, Jim Baird, Merrilee Hogan; along with nieces and nephews far and wide.
As a believer in reincarnation, Bo has transitioned on to his next life. Let us Celebrate a Life fully lived. As Bo would say, "let the good times roll," and "the river is calling my name."

Bo Baird, "Mr. Cool" played washtub bass and fiddle, hosted numerous lighthearted gatherings of friends in his North Macon woods office, for many years with cut logs for seating, utilizing a wooden cable spool as the communion table.

Bo was a great friend of mine and others at Lanier High School. He always had a smile on his face and embraced life as it came and did not try to change it!
