Brigadier Sheffield Obituary

Brigadier General S.J. Sheffield, Jr. -CORDELE - Brigadier General (Retired) S.J. Sheffield, Jr., age 69, of 121 Cedar Lake Drive, Cordele, died June 1, 2007 at Phoebe-Putney Memorial Hosital in Albany. Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 4, 2007 at 2P.M. at the chapel of Hughes and Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Sunnyside Cemetery. -Mr. Sheffield was a native of Crisp County and a retired Brigadier General with the Georgia Army National Guard. He attended Cordele First Baptist Church. He was the son of the late S.J. Sheffield, Sr. and Marcye Hobby Sheffield. Mr. Sheffield was a member of the Cordelia Masonic Lodge #296 F&AM, HANSAS Shrine Temple, Albany, Lee County Scat Cats and Lee County Shrine Club. -Mr. Sheffield is survived by his wife, Eula Jo Sheffield, of Cordele; one step-son, Dwaine Slade (Lisa) of Cordele; step-daughters, Angie Ellis (Brad) of Cordele, Peggy Haralson (Donnie) of Cordele and Julie Partain (Ken) of Cordele; brothers, Bobby Sheffield (Leala) of Cordele and Kenneth Sheffield (Frances) of Cordele; sisters Eddie Raines of Cordele and Virginia Barron of Smyrna; four step-grandchildren, Jena Ellis, Crystal Slade, Slade Ellis and J.D. Slade. -The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, June 4, 2007 from 1:00 P.M. until time of the service. -Hughes and Wright Funeral Home, Inc.

I feel Blessed by having the privelege of naming S.J. as the best friend I have ever had in my life time. He was as close to me as my own Brothers. May he rest in peace.
