Carol Williams Obituary

Carol Jean Dennard Williams -HAZLEHURST - Funeral services for Mrs. Carol Jean Dennard Williams, age 76, of 187 Fussell Road in Hazlehurst, who passed away Sunday night at her residence, will be held Tuesday morning at 10A.M. at the Hazlehurst First Baptist Church. The Rev. Rick Garrett, the Rev. John Darsey, and the Rev. Barry Owens will officiate with interment to be held in the Palms Memorial Gardens. -Mrs. Williams was a native of Wilcox County, and resided in Jeff Davis County most of her life. She was a certified master gardener, a retired school teacher formerly employed with the Jeff Davis County School System, and a member of the Hazlehurst First Baptist Church. Mrs. Williams was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Verna King Dennard. -Survivors include her husband, Marvin B. Williams of Hazlehurst; three daughters, Joyce Canfield of Marietta, Gail Land of Hazlehurst, and Hilda Lanford of Greensboro, NC; son, Blan Williams of Hazlehurst; three sisters, Mary Ida Hill, Anne Livingston, and Gay Kirkpatrick, all of Cochran; two brothers, Charles Dennard of Hazlehurst, and Benjamin Dennard of Cochran; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. -The family may be contacted at the family residence at 187 Fussell Road in Hazlehurst. -Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home. -Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Mrs. Carol Jean Dennard Williams, age 80, of Hazlehurst.

What a great teacher and friend. She was the type of teacher that remained your friend for life. I never knew what a talented gardner she was till I was out politicing one day and stop at her house. She took me on a tour of her beautiful garden. It was like she made her very own version of Callaway Gardens in her backyard. She was a great person whom I will deeply miss. I will always cherish her memory.

Williams Family, My condolences to you in the loss of your mother, my mother passed away in April and you are never ready for this. I spent many hours with your mom in her classroom at school and as a guest in your home being invited for a sleepover with Gail. I have many fond memories of your entire family and have thought of you often since the many years ago that you moved away from Cochran. May God give you strength in the days to come, you will be in my thoughts and prayers.
