I worked with Chris during college at The White Horse Inn in Champaign, Illinois. He was a great guy, a great leader, and enjoyed everything he did, from work to play and anything in between. My heartfelt condolences to all those he touched throughout his life, particularly his son, Matthew.

Dear Friends, I was deeply saddened to hear the news of Chris's passing. He was a nice young man and gone too soon. I have had the pleasure of watching my children grow up with Chris and his sisters Tracy, Julie, and brother David. I will always look back on the memories of them around Carnaby Court fondly.

Thank you to all that have paid your respects.
Chris gave us all memories that we'll never forget.
He was a father, son, nephew, uncle, and brother.
He was a cousin, a clown, and a friend like no other.
I'm still processing that my brother is actually gone.
We used to stay up all night, and party till dawn.
It's hard when someone you love is gone the next day.
You may wish you had said all you wanted to say.
We touched his life, and he touched all of ours.
His spirit will live on like the sun, moon, and stars.
He lived life to it's fullest, right up to the end.
Even for all of us related, he was our special friend.

What a great loss for all of us who knew Chris. My heart goes out to you Matthew--I always loved to hear the stories of your summer vacations when you guys would come in for your visits at Dr. Turner's office. I know you will miss him terribly but what wonderful memories you have. I don't think I have ever met anyone who loved life so much and wanted to share it all with you. Chris was just a neat guy whom I loved chatting with each morning at TSA. His smile and sweet spirit blessed me in ways he never knew. Whether it was small talk about the weather or a much deeper conversation on how I "needed" to make sure a Mustang GT was my next car purchase, he was a joy. God bless you Matthew! Praying for you.

I have know Chris since about 1983. I have run into him throughout the years. Everytime I ran into him, the first thing he would do was pull out a new picture of Matthew. The last time I ran into him, he told me about he and Matthew visiting all the ball parks. That was about 2 years ago. What a dedicated father Chris was. He will be greatly missed.

Dear Matthew ... your Dad was such a "giving" person & came to the aid of many of us. He went to to assist Cindy & Zack Dozier by giving me some rest when I was caring for their children in FL when Zack was in Shand's Hosp. I will never get over his total caring for our daughter & my Grandchildren. (He thinks he wore them out, but in reality, they wore him out !! Non of us are as "young" as we used to be! ) I can just imagine him giving God a "A Little something Extra" too. Just know, Matthew", that your Dad is with you at all times now. Just "talk to him & he will respond! Our Prayers for you & all your Extended Family! May God's peace & comfort be with you ...Sincere Sympathy ... Pat & Jim Caswell (Cindy Dozier's parents)

I met Chris long ago, thru his sister Tracy. Years later I moved to Macon and and Chris treated me like a brother.I worked for him at the Rookery, and doing odd jobs. When I didn't have work in construction, I could call him and he would make up work for me so I could pay my bills. I think he introduced all of us to ordering Lou Malnatis pizza's from Chicago. A big part of who I'm today is because of Chris.I love ya and miss ya Chris. I'll never eat Chicago again without thinking of you.

Chris was a very nice person. I'll never forget when Chris managed The Rookery what a great place it was for legendary jam sessions led by the Late Great Bobby O'Dea featuring notable musicians such as Robert Coleman, Chris Hicks, Big Mike, Elbert Durham, Tinsley Ellis, and Jaimoe. Chris treated customers like friends and family managing a bar and grill with eloquence and hospitably, while always taking good care of business and family.

I met Chris over 20 yrs ago. Little did I know then, his friendship would carry me through many ups and downs since. I am originally from Joliet, Il. and we had that whole Chicago Bears/Cubbies kinship thing. He and Matthew have been a big part of our family. My girls still talk about when their Daddy was at Shand's Hospital in Florida, Chris came down and took them on a self-guided tour through the Univ. of Florida campus to give my Mom a break at the hotel. After going through every building the was unlocked and peeking in on an art class, they ran the the football field and even snuck into the press box to "check it out". He wore them out. I remember the man who came to put his arms around me and let me know that "everything will work out and Zack will be fine" Zack made it through and we have all been fortunate enough to share many more good times together with Chris & Matthew. He always had a way of knowing when I needed a pick-me up laugh and knew just what to say or do to make my day brighter. Matthew, Thank you for sharing your dad with us and know that we all love you and will always be here for you.

Matthew and Kathy, David and I have known your wonderful family for 20 years. We have so many wonderful memories of our children, Josh and Kristin, playing with Matthew. We would take our kids trick or treating together every Halloween. I had the honor and privilege of working with Chris in the lunchroom at Tattnall for 4 years. Chris and David would talk every morning and throughout the day in the lunchroom. Matthew, you were his world, and you will never know how much he loved you.
