Damon King Obituary
September 9, 1934 - November 16, 2015
Macon, GA- Damon King passed away on Monday, November 16, 2015. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 20, 2015 at 11:00AM at Vineville Baptist Church, 2591 Vineville Ave., Macon, Georgia 31204. Dr. Richard Kremer, Reverend Joe McDaniel, George Israel and Leon Jones will be officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2015 from 5:00PM-7:00PM at Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, Macon, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Medcen Community Health Foundation, 858 High Street, Macon, GA 31201.

The senior class of 1953 at Huntingdon High School, Huntingdon, TN, have made a donation in memory of our dear friend and classmate for many years to the local library in his memory. His passing will make a sad memory for those who were his close friends since our childhood days.

I had the honor and privilege of working under the leadership of Mr. Damon King for many years. He served as a prominent and distinguished administrator, and it was truly a pleasure to know him as a man and as a professional. My sincerest condolences go out to his extended family, and he will be missed by us all.

Honored to be the last nurse that cared for Mr. King. He was bright eyed and happy on Friday. I will always remember his kind soul even though I only knew him a short time.

I started working at Medical Center of Central Georgia back in 1978 and I will always remembered Mr. King as a friendly, kind and gentle person. But what I'll remembered the most is how he walked the hall whistling and greeting each employee by name. May the family know that they're in my thoughts and prayers. Rest in peace Mr. King.

Damon's life and profession probably produced more benefits to Macon and Bibb County than any other single individual in my memory. His sensitivity and consummate intelligence resulted in benefits for so many people in this community. Macon has lost the subject of a community legend, but he will be always remembered and his memory respected by all those who were fortunate to enjoy his company.

I began working with Mr. King in 1978. He always impressed me with his caring attitude and generosity towards others. He knew all employees by name and that spoke volumes about him as a leader; that he took the time to know everyone and listen to their ideas and input.
I credit him as recently as 2008, in guiding me to my next phase as a medical professional. He gave solid advice that one could bank on. He and Janet will always hold a special place in my heart.
Please know that the family is in my thoughts and prayers. If I can be even a fraction of the mentor and man he was, I will have succeeded in life.

I had the esteem pleasure of working with Mr. King many years ago at the Medical Center. He was always such a gentle giant whom I will forever cherish and have much admiration and respect for. It was with great sadness learning of Mr. King's death. He is due all alcolades for all of his many accomplishments. I remember him most for his honesty and integrity and how he was a champion of his employees. I had the great fortune of working for and with him for over 25years before his retirement. He was a wonderful mentor and was truly invested in everyone's success.

Damon was one of a kind. He possessed vision, intelligence, commitment, and dignity as he pursued a personal road to excellence. He was the life of each and every party, dancing the many nights away (as Kim can attest). If he gave you his word, you could count on it being bonafide. He loved Janet beyond measure and may they now be together forever. The entire Macon community, and, dare say the entire State of Georgia, will miss him and mourn his loss. May God bless and keep him.
