Milledgeville, Georgia - Memorial Services for Daniel L. "Dan" Mixon, age 90, will be conducted Saturday, June 5, 2021, at 4:00PM in Williams Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mac Enfinger officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00PM until the service hour.
Mr. Mixon was born in Hazelhurst, GA, and grew up in Brunswick, where he graduated from Glynn Academy in 1949. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Korea, and being honorably discharged in 1951. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1955. He spent his career in sales and was truly a "born salesman" with his big smile and friendly demeanor. He retired from Baychem of North Carolina in 1995, and moved to Milledgeville in 1998, to be close to his grandchildren. He almost never missed a ballgame, GMC Parade, or graduation.
He was a long time member of the Kiwanis Club and the American Legion. He belonged to the Sons of the American Revolution, and delivered Meals on Wheels for many years.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ruel J. Mixon and Ida Cook Mixon; wife, Janet Pruitt Mixon; son, Daniel L. Mixon, Jr.; and siblings; Harold "Cork" Mixon, Cecil Mixon, Mack Mixon and Alice Mixon Brown.
Survivors include his wife, Charlyne Mairesse Mixon; daughters; Dr. Vickie Brown Richards (William) of Milledgeville, GA and Mary Mixon Arnold (Dieter) of Jacksonville Beach, FL; grandchildren; Seth Brown and Aaron Brown of Milledgeville, GA; and sister, Beth Mixon Dietz of Alexandria, VA; step-children; Jimmy Crooms of Milledgeville, GA; Michael Crooms of Warner Robins, GA and Arlette Mairesse of Jasper, GA.
Williams Funeral Home and Crematory of Milledgeville is in charge of arrangements.
