Daniel Elliott Obituary

Daniel "Danny" Pierce Elliott
May 26, 1961 - November 7, 2022
Warner Robins, Georgia - Lifelong Warner Robins resident, Daniel ("Danny") Pierce Elliott, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022, at the age of 61.
Born on May 26, 1961 in Warner Robins, Danny graduated in 1979 from Warner Robins High School where he served as senior class president and played basketball. He went on to attend Valdosta State University where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. Danny earned a bachelor's degree in business and began his career as an admissions counselor at Mercer University. He later worked as a pharmaceutical representative with Johnson & Johnson and occasionally wrote sports columns for local newspapers. In 1991, Danny suffered a severe electrical accident that forever changed his life. God blessed him in 1996 with his marriage to his soulmate, Gretchen.
An avid sports fan--especially of all Georgia Tech athletics, the Atlanta Braves, and the Atlanta Falcons--he was a passionate golfer and was more than proud to have scored a hole in one while living in North Carolina. In addition, he was a longtime, active member of Central Baptist Church where he sang in the choir, played on the church's softball and R.A. basketball teams, and coached youth basketball. Danny was a Southern Rock aficionado and enjoyed watching movies.
He died along with his wife, Gretchen Welde Elliott, and was preceded in death by his father, Earl Elliott.
Danny is survived by his loving mother, Yvonne Compton Elliott of Warner Robins; his brother, Jim Elliott (Michelle) of Eatonton; his nephews; Jay Elliott (Ferrell) of Atlanta and Mark Elliott (Kylie Taylor) of Smyrna; uncle, Don Compton of Warner Robins; and numerous beloved cousins; and other relatives.
Visitation will be Monday, November 14, 2022, from 11:00AM until 12:00Noon at McCullough Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at noon in the Chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Burial will be private at Magnolia Park Cemetery afterwards.
While we mourn the loss of Danny's physical presence, the family delights in our Lord and Savior's promise that he gave to Martha in John's gospel.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in his memory to the Tennant Foundation (an intractable pain syndrome study and education project), 336-338 S. Glendora Ave., West Covina, California 91790; intractablepainsyndrome.com.
For friends unable to attend at this time, the service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/.

Danny loved my little dog Lola....he called her Miss Wiggle butt. She had surgery yesterday and as I was walking back through the breezeway I caught myself thinking how concerned Danny would be. He was a dear friend to myself and my family, as was Gretchen. They are often in my thoughts and will remain there!!

I am so sad to hear of the passing of Danny. We dated awhile in College at VSC, and he was always such a gentleman. He and my husband worked briefly together at Mercer University as well. Please know that the family is in our thoughts and prayers. We know that we will see him again on Glory Day.

Danny was my Dad´s best friend, my dad passed away in 2018 and Danny did a great job planning his funeral since my Mom couldn´t. May he rest in peace, now with my Dad and Pistol Pete in heaven .

Danny and Gretchen lived directly across from us in our apartment building. They were two of the nicest people we have ever met. They always had a smile on their face and they always stopped to chat. My dog loved Danny and would wiggle all over when she saw him. He called her Ms. Wiggle Butt. She looks for him on his porch every day. He and Gretchen will be greatly missed as we have lost two dear friends. I never knew he was in so much pain bc he didn't let on. As much as my heart breaks losing them, I take comfort in knowing he has a brand knew body and they can live a new and wonderful life. We loved them dearly and will miss them everyday. The Ethridges
