Macon, GA- Dennis Lee Grimsley, 58, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2016. A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Duggan officiating. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bellevue Baptist Church, 5925 Price Road, Macon GA 31210 or Foundation Alcoholism Research, P.O. Box 54, Middleburry, VT 05753.
Dennis was born in Macon, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his father, Brian Ward Grimsley. Dennis was retired from the Medical Center of Central Georgia. He was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church and sang in the choir. He was involved with AA and had a "heart of gold." Dennis was a mechanic and could fix anything for anyone. He was a devoted and loving son, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.
He is survived by his children; Sarah Marie Grimsley of Athens, Daniel Lee Grimsley of Macon, mother; Dean Grimsley of Macon, brother; Brian (Vicki) Grimsley of Gray, twin brother; Dave Grimsley of Macon, grandson; Mason M. Grimsley of Macon, nieces and nephews; Merritt Brooks of Round Rock, TX, Michael Grimsley of Statham, GA, and Cydney Grimsley of Athens, GA, and the mother of his children; Debbie Inez Grimsley of Macon.

The memorial service today was a wonderful tribute to Dennis. I am so grateful for the time he and I spent together. He was a good friend and companion to me........... if only for a short period of time. I think my most precious memory is coming over to his Mother's home, playing her piano, and all of us singing hymns together. I won't forget him......... he will always be in my heart.

I have known Dennis since high school days and only within the last few years became reacquainted with him through mutual friends. We had long discussions and lots of laughs and tears remembering the good old days and the not so great recent years. Dennis was the most caring and compassionate person and did truly have a "heart of gold"! I know he loved his Dad and his Mama with all is heart! He was so helpful to me with several projects around my house including, as he put it, "putting band aids on" my 30 year old AC unit last summer. He was a good friend and a good man. He will be missed but I do believe we will meet again in that place where there are no fears, no tears and no more pain. Rest well My Friend! To Mrs. Grimsley, Dave, Brian, Daniel and Sarah, I hope you know Dennis loved you
with his whole heart...you are all in my prayers. Love.

I have so many wonderful memories of singing and laughing with Dennis many years ago when we participated in the Youth Choir at Bellevue Baptist Church. I saw him last at the Medical Center when he helped me to get my wheelchair-bound mother into the ladies restroom. Always kind, always helpful; that was Dennis. I am certain that our Heavenly Father will provide strength and comfort to all of the family during this difficult time.
