Duane Woodlief Obituary

Duane D. Woodlief
Jan. 12, 1965-Oct. 27, 2011
Resident of Grass Valley
Born January 12, 1965, in Santa Cruz, California, Duane left this earth on his journey to a better place on October 27, 2011, in Grass Valley, California, after a long battle with cancer.
Duane enjoyed life's adventures - motorcycle riding, dirt bike racing, boxing and flying. His proudest moment was the birth of his son, who was the pride and joy of his life. Duane was an outstanding athlete and a star on the Soquel High School football team from 1980-84; he later enjoyed watching his son Justin play football at Soquel High. Duane had a heart of gold and he will be missed dearly by those he leaves behind.
Duane is survived by his son, Justin Woodlief of Aptos; wife, Angela Woodlief of Vacaville; mother, Patsy Ramey of Indiana; father, Frank Woodlief of Fresno; sisters Rhonda Stockton of Lakeport and Sheila Butler of Alabama; brother, Mark Woodlief of Indiana; grandmother, Esther Dare, of Indiana; nephews Nathan Alonso, Brett, Travis and Chase Stockton, Steven and Nathan Gomez; nieces Cindy and Amanda Stockton and Fidan and Asha Woodlief. Duane has numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews that range from California to North Carolina.
A celebration of Duane's life will be held at Dewey Tompkins Field on Saturday, November 26, 2011, at 2:00 pm, rain or shine.
In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to cancer research, Soquel High Football, or Santa Cruz Pop Warner in memory of Duane.

As an older step-brother, he enjoyed torturing me! However, I knew that no one would mess with me, as they were all afraid of him! Duane was a fine athlete and to watch him on the football field was pure entertainment. He played with unbridled passion a game that made him truly happy. What an athlete...so relieved he is no longer suffering and can be at peace....love and condolences to your Son and Wife and all those who will miss you.
