Ella Holcomb Obituary

Ella Mae Folds Holcomb -ROUND OAK - Ella Mae Folds Holcomb, 72, of Jackson Road, died Saturday, January 7, 2012, at her residence. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Sunday at Bridges Funeral Home in Gray. Funeral services will be held at 11A.M., Monday, January 9, 2012 in the chapel of Bridges Funeral Home, with burial following at the Holcomb Family Cemetery in Round Oak. Rev. Brennan Jackson will officiate the services. -Mrs. Holcomb was born in Tyce on July 16, 1939, and had lived in Round Oak for over forty years. She was the daughter of the late Marion Frances Folds and Mary Jane Nolen Folds. Mrs. Holcomb was a homemaker and a member of Roundway Baptist Church, where she was also a member of the Adult Sunday School Class. -Mrs. Holcomb is survived by her loving husband of fifty-eight years, Vergil Seborn Holcomb, Sr.; sons and daughter-in-law, Vergil and Christina Holcomb, Jr., and Victor Holcomb; daughters and sons-in-law, Maryann and Norman "Blake" Smith, Sheila "Darlene" and Bob Holloway and Shelby Arlene and Bobby Scoggins; and by ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. -In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Georgia and Alabama, 1775 The Exchange SE, Suite 200, Atlanta, Georgia 30339. -The family may be contacted at the residence of Darlene and Bob Holloway. -Bridges Funeral Home and Crematory in Gray has charge of arrangements. -Please visit the online memorial at www.bridgesfh.com.

I will start by saying We are Pansy and Glenn E Folds, Sr The son of Aunt Ella Mae's Brother Cecil Lamar Folds (deceased ) . We are so sorry for your / our loss. Glenn and I remember Aunt Ella Mae as the beautiful lady we saw only at funerals. But we loved her and admired her for the life she was able to make for herself. And as a nephew and niece -in-law we feel the pain of knowing she was the last sibliling from that generation to leave us Prayers are with each of ya'll and we are so sorry we just found out TODAY (after her funeral).
