Macon, Georgia - Homegoing Services will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation: Friday, February 9 from 4 to 6 PM at funeral home.
Services entrusted to Glover Memorial Mortuary, Inc.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Major Evans, he hired me as a 911 dispatcher where I proceeded to work and retire as a Supervisor after 35 years with the Macon Police Dept. I will forever be grateful. My condolences and Deepest sympathy to the Evans family.

I am so sorry to learn of the passing of our long time family friend Ellis was a beat cop back in the days of Bibb Theater his dad the late great Rev.Evans was our school bus driver when we went on field trips. The Mt Olive Church family has been a part of our life for as long as I can remember. Our condolences to this wonderful family praying for strength as this is such a shock. We send love and prayers. Ellis was certainly a pioneer and mentor in the Macon Community as well as a decorated career with The Macon Police Department.
My sister Deborah and I were fond of the entire Evans family. Ellis' parents and sisters, the late Reverend and Mrs E.S. Evans, and daughters, Emily and Esther, as well as Mrs Perry, Mrs Evans' mother, served as our babysitters during our young years! We then would be entrusted to watch over Elena, Eric, Karen and their cousins!
Such fond memories of Ellis' life, as well as the Evans family. A life well lived. It is with heavy hearts that we salute you. May God continue to strengthen and grant you peace.

Retired Major Evans and his entire family was a fixture in my old neighborhood.
When I occasionally ride through the old neighborhood, I always look at their house and it brings back so many memories of his parents and went he would visit driving his work vehicle.
