Estelle Silvers Obituary
Fort Valley, GA- Estelle Silvers went to be with her Lord on Monday, June 13, 2016, at Taylor County Health and Rehab in Butler. Born in Oakman in Gordon County, she moved to Fort Valley in 1949, where she spent many years as housewife and mother. She owned and operated a Merle Norman Cosmetics Studio for 30 years. Through this studio, she developed a ministry to her clients by sharing her love for her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Fort Valley and a member of its choir for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, W. D. Silvers; her parents, J. T. and Callie Collis of Chatsworth; brothers, Herbert, Edmund, R. L., and Harlan Collis; sisters, Esther Mae Collis, Mattie Lou Quarles, and Katie Ruth Townsend.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Hazel Collis; daughter, Judy Dowdy of Fort Valley; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyne and Joe Hauldren of Butler; daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Randy Gordon of Dalton; grandchildren, Jimmy Dowdy, Virginia Hauldren Bell, Josh Stewart, Jessie Stewart, Josie Hauldren, Kelly Hauldren, special grandson Doug Whitcher, Rob Gay and Eric Smith; 22 nieces and nephews; 9 great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 10:00AM on Friday, June 17, 2016, at First Baptist Church, 209 S. Miller Street in Fort Valley, with the Reverend Ed McQueen officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Thursday, June 16, 2016, at Rooks Funeral Home, 213 West Church Street in Fort Valley. In lieu of flowers , please make contributions in memory of Estelle Silvers to the First Baptist Church Together We Grow Fund or the Alzheimer's Association. You can go to www.rooksfuneralhome.com to express online condolences. Rooks Funeral Home in Fort Valley is in charge of arrangements.

Our Thoughts and Prayers go out to Estelle, Family and Friends. We ate many lunches together while helping out at Merle Norman. Never will forget when we met Estelle back around 1970 right after a Tornado had come through Fort Valley, We found her walking down the Street and carried her Home. The Memories we shared for years after that will be our Memories to last a Life Time. There is a new Star in the Heavens and the Stars name is Estelle. God Bless You Estelle, We will miss you until God Calls Us Home....
