Eugene Stetson Hatcher
April 6, 1944 - February 3, 2022
Macon, Georgia - Eugene Stetson Hatcher, 77, of Macon, died on Thursday, February 3, 2022. He was born in Kewanee, Illinois on April 6th, 1944. He graduated from Choate School in Wallingford Connecticut, Georgia Institute of Technology, and Mercer University, Walter F. George School of Law.
In his early career, he worked for John Harland Company for many years. He practiced law at Anderson, Walker, and Reichert for forty years.
He loved fishing, boating, wood working, and being with friends especially the beach trip with the AMFICO group. He was Czar of Palaver IV, a member of Idle Hour Country Club, and Christ Church Macon.
He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his many puns. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Joan Marie; his two sons; Eugene S. Hatcher, Jr., (Sally) and Mark R. Hatcher (Olivia); his grandchildren; Stetson, Cal, Lily B, Davis, Ava, Nate, and Marshall; his brother, Robert Felton Hatcher (Georgia); sister, Josephine Hatcher Merrill (George); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 7, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Church Macon with a reception to follow in the Great Hall.

I so enjoyed working with Gene on cases while I was employed at Bush, Crowley & Leverett. He made the annoying cases so much better with his poems. I miss that.
