Milledgeville, Georgia - Deacon George Hillery Mathis, Jr. passed away August 1, 2024, at a Georgia War Veterans' Home in Milledgeville. The family will greet friends from 6:00pm - 8:00pm, Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Snow's at Macon Memorial Park. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Friday, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Macon with interment following at Macon Memorial Park.
Snow's at Macon Memorial Park has charge of arrangements. Condolences may be registered online at www.snowsmacon.com.

May God bless the family in this time of sorrow uncle George was a humble giant of a man with a big heart he will be missed i didn't get to spend a lot of time with him but I cherish our talks on the phone he encouraged me to continue to be strong and continue to do my dialysis treatment's even while he was dealing with his own health issues he took out the time to check on me family your in my prayers love you and God Bless.

To the family and friends of George Mathis. May God comfort you as only he can. I pray the memory of the laughter you shared with him bring you comfort, closure and peace. I remember George from his time at the Frank Johnson Recreation Center, where he and his wife Dorothy, worked tirelessly building up the Unionville community. George passed through this world but once, any good therefore he did, any kindness he showed to anyone, he did it while he lived, he shall not pass this way again.
