To the Daugherty family:
Hearing of our friend Trudy, and your "Nan's" death was indeed sad. She was always a generous, caring, and involved person who was usually a step ahead of the crowd. As such you could count on her support as the approachable, dependable type who was always stalwart in encouraging others creative efforts and goals of personal achievement. Raising kids who were encouraged to strive for high academic as well as socially relevant goals, while diligently working at a very demanding job, required a model with the confidence in herself to inspire others. She succeeded admirably in all these endeavors while keeping her keen sense of humor through the good as well as difficult times.
Despite having an active, demanding family and professional life Trudy always found time to engage her sharp mind and creative abilities in ways that were beautiful to watch as they grew to fruition. Where else would you have penumbra parties during eclipses and cheese and wine tasting events while lounging in a heated pool? And who else could turn out a macramé shawl in less than a day? Possessing a nimble mind with equally facile hands and fingers she skillfully produced imaginative creations to the enjoyment of her friends and family. All the while she made it look routine and so deceptively easy. Always ready to take on new ideas and challenges, even before most had even heard of them, Trudy was an admired person in her own family and those who came to know her were equally inspired by her sense of exploration and lifelong quest to continually improve herself.
We, our community, and your family have lost a mother, grandmother, wife, co-worker, and a truly altruistic friend who will be missed but never forgotten, as no one forgets her "whooshy-whooshy". My thoughts are with you during this time of mourning.
