I didn't know Jake, but as I read the Guest Book, I get a feel for what a fine man he was. I offer my sincere sympathy as you now seek to cope with his loss. I must confess that this is the mystery of life that most escapes my understanding. Why must accidents like this happen - and claim the lives of vibrant and spirit-filled Christians? I'm glad God knows because I don't have a clue. I do know, however, that Jake is resting in the arms of the Savior right at this very moment and gazing into the face of God. I know that through our faith in Jesus Christ one day I will meet Jake on the other side and we will forever worship the Lord together - without tears or pain, just bliss, wonder and awe at the feet of our Lord and Savior. I hope that this picture gives you comfort in the days, weeks and months ahead and that you may place yourselves securely in the arms of Jesus and receive His healing for your hurting hearts. May God continue to be very close to you, comfort your hearts and give you His peace which passes all human understanding.

Hi Judy
I just found out tonight and said a prayer for you, Jake, and John. I've thought about ya'll many times over the years but only recently returned to Georgia.

From his fraternity brothers in Tau Kappa Epsilon, from his fellow VSC grads, and all the people in this world his life touched so briefly... Goodbye my friend.

Judy... I wish you well.

Mrs. Rocker and John,
You have been in my prayers ever since I heard about the accident. I am so sorry for what you are going through. My prayers are that God wraps His loving arms around you. We don't always understand why He allows things like this to happen, but remember He Loves You both very much and He will bring you through this! Now you have the Lord plus an angel(Jake) watching over you. Mrs. Rocker, you were always one of my favorite teachers and blessed me so much by knowing you. I pray that God blesses you and John in tremendous ways. Love, Kimberly Johnson Olgers

I value the time I had with Jake in Macon when I saw him at the games at FPD, as well as, at the Macon Braves games when John pitched in the Sally League. He was a saved, christian person, this I know, which is the grace of re-assurance that we will one day see him again. I am proud of you John in your life and how you have handled adversity. You are a role model for me and I have learned much by listening to you speak on several occasions and hear the Holy Spirit in your voice and know you are saved, also. I wanted to speak to you John, the last time I saw you, but didn't know if you would recognize me, but maybe you did and just didn't say anything. I believe with every fiber of my existence John, Jake is in a place of Holy Ground, so we must hang on so that we can see him again.

My deepest condolences to your mother also who is the mother every child on the face of this earth should have the privilage of love and tender care as I have witnessed from her for all.

May God's Speed be with this family and behind an angel's wings as it should be for Jake Rocker. peace

Dear Judy & John,
Jake Rocker was truly one of the people who made a difference. My late husband, Ricky Gilmer, was a Jake Rocker fan from the beginning when he went to work at Farm Bureau in 1981 until his death last May. Jake was with him in the back of the church on our wedding day, probably coaxing him to get out to the altar! He came the day our son,Richard, was born and again when Richard had to have surgery. He was always there to support us. Then when we lost Ricky so suddenly last May, he was there to support us again --100%. He truly made a difference. Thank you for sharing Jake with my family - he was loved by us all. May God bless you now as you deal with this unbelievable loss. Know that my love and prayers are with you all.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Rocker in the Grill at Healy Point Country Club where I worked for several months. I looked forward to seeing him come in. Every time I would see him at the club, he was always in bright and happy spirits, even when he was having a bad round. That alone used to brighten my day, but his concern for me and my well being would brighten it that much more. My heart goes out to your family, Mr. Rocker, in their time of sorrow and despair. You will be greatly missed!!!! Until we meet again on the greens in the sky, God bless!!!

April 21, 2007

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

John:

I remember the days when you played in Macon and every home game, there was your dad (and mom) coming through the gates with a smile always and a glowing beam of proudness. Your parent's devotion and love for you was inspiring and I know at this time, the huge amount of love that your dad bestowed upon you will comfort you through this dark period. Every child who has a parent(s) who gives their everything to them are so lucky. The dedication your father had for you was a precedent like no other. Coupled with that and your continued love you receive from your mother, will keep your father's memory always alive. My condolences to you, your mom, and the rest of your dad's family.

Dear John and family,

My deepest sympathies to you and all who are grieving this tragic loss.

John, we don't know one another and I did not have the privilege of knowing your father but I chose to write you this message to let you know how very much I understand your pain, grief, and sorrow. My heart truly goes out to you. My own father, Jimmie Davis, of Hawkinsville, Ga, was well known and loved in our community. He was 67 years old when he was killed in a car accident on March 4, 2007. My mother's life was spared and we are thankful, but we are hurting so deeply over the loss of my father.

My family and I know so very well the heartache and pain yours is feeling. Please know that even in the midst of our own deep grief over our
own tragic loss, that we are lifting you and your family up in prayer.

May God grant you the peace that surpasses understanding, the love and comfort of His holy presence, and the strength to endure the days ahead.
God bless you!

"He heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds." Psalm 147:3

The Rocker Family,

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I worked with Jake at the Georgia Farm Bureau from 1992 - 1997. I will never forget all the laughs and good times at the Farm Bureau. He reminded me of this every time I saw him.

I am working at the Georgia Industrial Children's Home where Jake has played in golf tournaments for us. He was a wonderful man who will truly be missed.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

I had the pleasure of working with Jake at the GFB & will never forget him. He always had a twinkle in his eye, probably due to the fact that he knew how to enjoy life to the max. It has to be devastating to lose a father, especially such a devoted one, but knowing how proud & loving he was should provide some comfort. I'm honored to have been his friend.

Jake, I know that you are in God's hands and basking in the splendor and beauty of heaven! I will miss seeing you around town and "catching up". Thank you so much for all of the encouraging words that you gave me over the past 19 years! Mallory still remembers all the Fridays you would meet us at the Burger King on Forsyth Street for lunch. Your attention and guidance meant so much to her. Thank you, dear friend. You will be missed!
God Bless you and your family!

I've worked with Jake for 27 years. He was a true friend and had the heart of gold. You could always depend on Jake to either listen or help you with your problems, make you laugh, or to be a contestant in the first GFB Womanless Beauty Pagaent. Jake seemed to know what to say or do no matter what type of crisis occurred. Jake's love and kindness will be missed. I will miss him as a friend. May God Bless be with you and just know that now Jake has his wings.

I worked with Jake for many years at GFB,after I stopped working at GFB to further my career, I would see Jake around town and he always remembered me and gave me words of encouragement.I never heard him say a unkind word about anyone. He was always so encouraging and willing to listenand give advice. He always asked about my children and could remember each of them by name.He was so personable. I know he would help me in any way needed, all I would have to do is ask. I'm so sorry for the tragic way he died.My thoughts are with the family.

John,
I know that your father was your world. He was a vivacious, strong willed and wonderful person, and he will be greatly missed. Though the road ahead will be rocky, keep his memory alive by being the man he would want you to be. Take care and be strong - I will be thinking of you.

My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with Jake's loved ones. I worked under Mr.Rocker for several years and he always encouraged my endeavors. When I left GFB to raise a family, he was one of the most supportive voices. On my last trip to Georgia, I had the privlege of seeing him and although years had past, his sweet spirit and personal nature was intact. Praying peace and comfort for his family.
