Macon, GA- James Whitsett Coney, 52, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, October 1, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2016 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services with the committal service following in Sunnyside Cemetery. The family will meet with friends prior to the service Wednesday beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. James was born October 15, 1963 in Macon where he grew up and graduated from Southwest High School. He was employed at various jobs including Macon Mine and Mill and Steak Out until an early disability retirement. His kind, gentle and compassionate spirit was evidenced throughout his life. Having been blessed with a sweet, cheerful and magnetic personality, he endeared himself to all those he met. His keen and willing desire to help others in need was manifested in the many lives he touched. James was of the Christian faith and often expressed his deep faith in his Lord. His memory will live on in the hearts of family members and friends and will be forever cherished. He enjoyed God's beautiful creations in the world along with many memorable boating and fishing experiences. At home his loving pets brought him much joy and contentment. James was predeceased in death by his father, Walter Eugene Coney, Jr., his paternal grandparents, Walter Eugene, Sr. and Lexie Dekle Coney and his maternal grandparents, William LeRoy, Sr. and Ethel Monfort McMurray. James is survived by his mother, Jane McMurray Winne of Perry; his brother, Charles Coney of Cuthbert; two sisters and their husbands, Susan C. and Ricky Stuckey of Macon and Elizabeth C. and Michael Herron of Warner Robins; two uncles, Judge William LeRoy McMurray and his wife, Rosemary of Atlanta and Dekle Coney of Greensboro, NC; four nephews, Justin Lewandowski and Thomas Stuckey, both of Macon and Timothy Herron and Daniel Herron, both of Warner Robins; three nieces, Emily Herron, Christiana Herron and Grace Herron, all of Warner Robins; and many dear cousins. Cotton we was friends for 40 plus years we grew up together fished together many times and I must say you was a true friend and you will be missed RIP MY FRIEND. James, or as I knew him "Cotton", was a dear friend of my older brother Chucky. I remember James and my brother going fishing all the time in their youth. He was a one of a kind guy and he will be missed. May God be with his family during this time.
