James Wendell Meeks
Macon, GA- James Wendell Meeks, 67, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2012 surrounded by his family. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with Pastor Loretta Faulk ministering in word and song. The family will meet friends from 6 - 8 p.m., Tuesday at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Heartland Hospice, 200 Northside Crossing, Macon 31210.
Mr. Meeks was born in Wrightsville, son of the late Ellis Harvel Meeks and Clara Lee Usery Meeks. He was a Vietnam Veteran from 1965 to 1968 in the United States Army, Specialist 4th Class receiving an honorable discharge. Mr. Meeks retired from Earthgrains BC&T Local 434 after twenty-nine years. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Lynmore Estates. Mr. Meeks was preceded in death by his wife, Paulette B. Meeks and brother Curtis Meeks.
Survivors include his daughter, Gayle Meeks of Macon; his son, James H. Meeks (Harvey); daughter-in-law, Carol O'Rourke Meeks; two grandchildren, Megan Gail Meeks and Joseph Eric Stevens, all from Gray; nephew (son by heart), Kristopher Lee Norman. He was loved and will be missed by several sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
