Joe Blaxton Obituary

Joe W. Blaxton, Sr. -VIDALIA - Mr. Joe W. Blaxton, Sr., age 80 of Vidalia, died Saturday, September 10, 2011 in Hospice of Palm Beach County in West Palm Beach, Florida after an extended illness. -He was a lifelong resident of Vidalia, retired from Georgia Power - Highline Construction, and was a member of the Ambassadors of Georgia Power. He was a poll worker for the City of Vidalia for twenty years, and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Vidalia, and the Men's Bible Class. He was a member of the Vidalia Masonic Lodge, the Quint Shrine Club in Lyons, and the Alee Shrine in Savannah. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Taylor Blaxton in 1997, his father, William Mack Blaxton, two brothers, Therman Blaxton and Wilbur Blaxton, and a sister, Alva Mae Mosley. -Mr. Blaxton is survived by one daughter, Susan B. Adams and husband Garry of Vidalia; one son, Joe Wallace "Wally" Blaxton, Jr. of West Palm Beach; his mother Ethel Beckum Blaxton of Vidalia; one sister, Ann Davis and husband Duel of Vidalia; one brother, Larry Blaxton and wife Ann of Macon; five grandchildren, Whitney, Sydney, Caitlin, Jessica, and Justin, and several nieces nephews, and cousins. -Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 14th at 11:00 am in the First United Methodist Church of Vidalia with Reverend Robert Greene officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. -The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 8:00. -In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 150, Vidalia, GA 30475. -Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home of Vidalia is in charge of arrangements.

So sorry to hear the news about Mr. Joe. He surley was a "Hoot". I am also a mason and he shared a lot of very entertaining stories about his life from childhood to grandfather-hood, I will never forget his smile. God bless each of you in this time of sorrow. WWarnock
