Joe Camp Obituary

Joe O. Camp -MACON-Joe O. Camp, 88, passed away quietly on September 9, 2002 in a local hospital. Mr. Camp was born in Griffin, GA in 1914 to the late R.H. Camp and Willie Elam Camp. He is preceded in death by his wife of fifty-one years, Martha Sue Lockhart Camp. Mr. Camp was a Conductor with the Central Georgia Railroad with fourty-two years of service. He was a member and Past Master of Gordon Lodge 240 F&AM and a member of Lizella Lodge 663 F&AM, and was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star. He had received his Twenty Five and Fifty year pins. Mr. Camp was on the Board of Trustees for the National Geographical Society. He was a District Layman for the United Methodist Conference and a member of both Cross Keys and Gordon United Methodist Church. -Survivors include his sister-in-laws, Bonne Lockhart Bailey and Ruth Lockhart; great-niece, Betsy Guyton and her husband Shane Guyton; great-nephew, Charles Robert Bailey; grand-niece, Jessica Kalyn Evans Yates. -Graveside services will be held at 11A.M., Thursday, September 12, 2002 in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Paul Best will be officiating. -The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. Wednesday evening in the funeral home. -Flowers are being accepted, but donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, 2966 Riverside Drive, Macon, 31204. -Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
