May 23, 1945 - November 22, 2021
Macon, Georgia - Joel T. Peed, 76, of Macon, passed away Monday, November 22, 2021. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 29, 2021 at Vineville Baptist Church, with Dr. Richard Kremer officiating. Visitation will follow the service in the Church sanctuary. Interment will be private at Riverside Cemetery.
Son of the late Martin Lester Peed and Alma Kenyon Peed, Mr. Peed was born on May 23, 1945, in Milford, Connecticut. He proudly served in the Georgia National Guard. He retired from Bellsouth as an electronic switchman. He was a member of Vineville Baptist Church, where he was a member of Will Platt Sunday School Class and the choir. Mr. Peed was a trustee of Union Chapel in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts. He also participated in the Macon Civic Chorale and the Macon Madrigals.
Mr. Peed is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rita Thompson Peed of Macon, Georgia; sister, Alma Jane McCook, of Albany, Georgia; son-in-law, Bobby Whitaker, of Macon, Georgia; sister-in-law, Elaine Everhardt, of Hilton Head, South Carolina; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mr. Peed was preceded in death by his daughter, Claire Elisabeth Peed Whitaker.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joel's honor to Vineville Baptist Church, 2591 Vineville Avenue, Macon, Georgia 31204.
