I remember the old days at Tattnall with Tommy Lee and Leonard. The two of you were a wonderful example of how marriage should be. And Fred and I have often thought of and talked about our wedding when Tommy Lee sang. We loved you both and are so sorry about the loss of Leonard. We know you have many loving and fond and happy memories. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.

It was just three years ago that Reverend Cone joined our hands in marriage. On December 18, 1999 he helped fill our hearts with joy and we always think of him so fondly during this month. He counseled us with laughter and love for weeks before the ceremony, and when we think of him and Miss Tommy we always have a smile on our faces. Their love was the model on which we based our marriage. We often talk fondly of the time spent in thier living room and the things that they taught us there and we have always hoped that we could be just half as happy as they were as we grow older together. We are very sad to learn of his passing, and may God give his family the strength to carry on without him. Miss Tommy you are especially in our prayers and we love you dearly.

I am, at this moment, in Chicago with my daughter who is showing me how to navigate on this computer. We just viewed the obituaries in the Democrat and am very sorry to learn that Leonard had died. I was originally assigned to room with Leonard at the University of Florida in September of 1944, but he wanted to room with his hometown friend, Martin Agner, so we switched, and I moved next door with John Bailey. I enjoyed the resulting friendship with Leonard at U of F. I noticed that he has a surviving sister living in Crawfordville which is my home--or nearby, originally Arran, Florida. My condolences to the family at your loss. Sincerely, E. Smith Laws
