Johnny Mathews Obituary
Warner Robins, GA- Johnny J. Mathews, 46, died Sunday, November 11, 2012. Services will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, November 15, 2012, at Fort Valley United Methodist Church, 301 West Church Street in Fort Valley, with Rev. Phil Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at Rooks Funeral Home, 213 West Church Street in Fort Valley. Born in Fort Valley, Johnny was formerly employed at Fort Valley Machine Shop. He is preceded in death by his father, Vivian Mathews. Survivors include his mother, Minnie Mathews of Fort Valley, his children, Brittany N. Mathews and Kevin Mason Mathews and their mother, Carletta Childs Mathews, all of Macon, and brothers and sisters, Wayne Youngblood of Atlanta, Terry Hobbs of Reynolds, Charla Thompson (J.L. and Lauren) of Warner Robins, and Rudy Spires of Centerville and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed life with his best buddies, who he considered as brothers, Brooks Hatchett (Barbara and Tiffany), Tony Hatchett (Julie), Kim Henry Hatchett (Sherri), Jeffery Thompson (Terry), Tony Thompson, and Jeff "Dock" Sharp (Stephanie). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Johnny to the American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry St., Macon, GA 31201. Family may be contacted at 1006 Knoxville Street in Fort Valley. My Niece (Brittany) and Nephew (Mason) and My Sister (Carletta) and the rest of our family yall did an awesome job in planing Johnny's funeral! Johnny wouldve been so very proud of the arrangements you made. The flower arrangements suited him to a T. The antlers and the fishing pole with bait and fish they were so pretty. He will be sorely missed! He will be forever a family member. The service was wonderful and JL did a wonderful job playing Amazing Grace on the Saxophone. He is no longer in pain and that's a great blessing but the Greatest blessing is he; has Jesus in his heart and we will see him again! One Day at A Time! I love you both and so very proud of the young people yall have become! I love you Ceshani

So sorry to hear about Johnny, my prayers go out to family and friends in this time. He is surely missed and I always enjoyed the way he made us laugh and smile. No matter what you were going through, he could lift you up no matter what..

I would like to send my deepest condolences to Johnnys' family and friends from our family, he was a neighbor and a friend for many years. I remember the day my daughter Sharon passed, he was the first one over to ask if there was anything he could do. God will ease your pain, but your memories of him will remain forever.
