Hawkinsville, Georgia - Joseph "Joey" Lawrence Adams, age 66, unexpectedly passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021. Joey was born June 20,1954 in Macon County, Georgia. He was the son of the late Mark and Betty Jane Adams of Haynesville, GA. Joey retired from Cemex (formerly Southdown and Medusa) in 2020 after 34 years of service, he also worked at Pabst Brewery from 1975 to 1984. Joey was a member of the First Baptist Church of Haynesville and Jesus became his personal Savior at fourteen years of age. In his spare time, Joey loved to go camping, hunting, fishing and most importantly, spend time with his family. He never missed a chance to attend their events at school, church, or the ball field. There was never a time you would see Joey out and he not have smile on his face. One of Joey's favorite pastimes was Saturdays cheering on his Georgia Bulldawgs. Go Dawgs!
Left behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Sandra Adams of Hawkinsville, GA; four children; Josh (Mandy) Adams of Perry, GA; Casey Adams of Kathleen, GA; Kelly (Calvin) Clark of Bonaire, GA; and Donna (Tyler) Barfield of Perry, GA. Proudest Papa Joe to four grandchildren; Cally Clark, Macy Irwin, Emma Grace Adams, and Brooks Barfield. Two brothers; Mike (Judy) Adams of Haynesville, GA and Eric (Karen) Adams of Perry, GA. One sister; Cynthia (Terry) Hamsley of Ellijay, GA. He also leaves behind his special four-legged girls, Lucy and LilyBell.
Services will be held at 11AM on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Haynesville in Haynesville, GA with Brother David Fisher and Brother Winfred Huff officiating. A Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request monetary donations be made in Joey's honor to First Baptist Church of Haynesville. The family asks that masks be worn, and social distancing practiced when possible. For those unable to attend the service, a live stream will be available via the First Baptist Church of Haynesville's Facebook page.
