December 16, 1949 - January 7, 2022
Warner Robins, Georgia - Early on the morning of Friday, January 7, 2022, Kathy W. Atkinson joined her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in Heaven. She was 72 years old.
The daughter of the late Robert Austin "Bob" Wilkerson and Joan Dodson Burgess, Kathy was born in Jackson, Mississippi, on December 16, 1949. Of the Christian faith, Kathy was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church in Macon. With a love for animals, she loved Koi, was a member of a Koi club, and traveled to and met friends at numerous Koi shows. Kathy also had Alpacas and a beloved dog, "Maggie May." She was passionate about cooking and crocheting. By the ocean was her favorite place to be and she thoroughly enjoyed soaking up the sunshine. Most of all, it brought Kathy tremendous joy when she was able to help others.
In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her son, Wesley Lucas of Warner Robins; and sister, Nancy Elizabeth Wilkerson.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her son, John Lucas, Jr.; step-father, George Burgess of Warner Robins; Bart Atkinson of California; siblings, Dolores Caudillo of Macon and Pat Hodges of Atlanta; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Visitation with Kathy's family will be Wednesday, January 12, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 13, 2022, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Reverend Slade Speir officiating. Following the service, Kathy will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery. For friends and family unable to attend, the service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of Kathy W. Atkinson to the American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry St., Ste. A, Macon, Georgia 31201.
