Marian Gordon Obituary
May 13, 1928 - June 24, 2018
Florence, AL- Marian Lewis Gordon, 90, died Sunday morning in Florence, AL. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday at Highland Hills Baptist Church with Rev. Chip Miller officiating. The family will meet friends in the sanctuary following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to MMTA scholarship fund and sent to Monni Parrish 5730 Sweetbriar Trail
Macon, GA 31210 or to Reformed University Fellowship by donating online at www.givetoruf.org with designation Univ of Oklahoma.
Mrs. Gordon had lived in Florence, AL since 2005. Prior to 2005, she lived in Macon since entering Wesleyan Conservatory and School of Fine Arts in 1945, where she received a Bachelor of Music in Piano. She received her Masters of Music in Piano from Florida State University. Mrs. Gordon was organist at First Baptist Church and Highland Hills Baptist Church while in Macon. She was a piano teacher in Macon and Florence where she shared her knowledge and love of music to many children. She loved her involvement in the Macon music scene which also included her involvement with the Macon Symphony. She was predeceased by her husband, M. Royce Gordon, and son, David M. Gordon. Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth G. Marchman, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

We are so sad that our dear Mrs. Gordon has passed on. She was a wonderful teacher to my sons Victor and Timmy. They learned to love piano again under her tutelage. We will miss her. Our sincerest condolences and prayers to her family.

Mrs. Gordon was always an amazing piano teacher, and I think of her often especially as I sit at my piano to play a few songs and come across her (very precise!) fingering notes and other reminders (loud here! soft here! curved fingers ALWAYS) in my music. She taught me music and also about the value of hard work and practice. I am sorry for your loss and feel blessed that I had a chance to know her. Praying for your family.

I am so saddened to read of Marian's death. For many years, I enjoyed her sweet company every week as she used to come to my Mother to have her hair done. She was fun, uplifting, and had lots of interesting stories!
