Marie Moore Obituary

Marie Moore

March 16, 1928 - November 7, 2024

Centerville, Georgia - Marie Moore, age 96, passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday, November 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Born on March 16, 1928, in Warner Robins, Marie was the daughter of the late Horace and Maggie Giles. She was known for her passion for gardening, winning numerous awards for her stunning yards and vibrant flowers. In particular, she was lovingly referred to as "The Day Lily Queen," cultivating an impressive variety and number of day lilies. Marie's love for nature extended beyond her garden, as she was an active member of the local Red Hat chapter in Warner Robins. Marie was also a beloved member of Christ United Methodist Church, and a pillar of her community.

In her professional life, Marie retired after 30 years of service as a Civil Service Manager at Robins Air Force Base, specializing in training and inventory control.

Marie was also an avid traveler and enjoyed exploring the world with family and friends after her retirement. In her earlier years, she loved boating, water skiing, and fishing, always seeking adventure and the joys of the outdoors. Above all, Marie was devoted to her family. She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews, often serving as a second mother to them.

Marie lived a long, full, and meaningful life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarence Moore; stepson, Harry Moore; her brother, Ledrew Giles, and sisters, Florine G. Brand, Sara G. Jarrell, and Wylene G. Maddox; as well as her nieces, Latrelle G. Alford, Melonie G. Watson, and nephew, Ronnie Brand; as well as her beloved furbaby of 12 years, her dog, "Ichabod."

Marie is survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as her stepdaughter, Jeri Jones; and step-granddaughter, Kristen M. Fields; and step-grandson, Jeffery Jones.

A visitation for Marie's family and friend will take place on Monday, November 11, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The graveside funeral service and interment for Marie will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Warner Robins.
