Mark Adams Obituary

Mark Andrew Adams, 68, of Macon, Georgia, has entered eternal rest on September 26, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on February 17, 1957 in Newport, Rhode Island, Mark spent his formative years living in Panama City, Florida alongside his loving parents and three siblings, Rosemarie, Owen, and Steve. After graduating from Gulf Coast Community College in 1977, Mark honorably served in the United States Air Force with Strategic Air Command in the War Plans Programming and Analysis Division before beginning his respected career as a Systems Analyst at the Office of Personnel Management in Macon, Georgia. Mark was a lifelong advocate for education; among his many academic degrees and professional accolades, he obtained his Master of Science degree in Software Systems from Mercer University's School of Engineering in 2008. He also supported and volunteered with Friends of the Library Macon for many years.

Mark was a loyal sports fan, often heard rooting for his favorite sports teams: the Boston Red Sox, Notre Dame, and the New England Patriots. He was an avid reader, history buff, puzzle solver, and a dedicated family man with an appreciation for good food. A devoted parishioner at St. Joseph's Catholic Church for over 40 years, Mark was also a fiercely loyal, compassionate, and selfless presence to his treasured group of friends and a supportive, protective, encouraging, patient, and loving father to his three daughters.

He will be remembered for his unwavering integrity, kindness, wisdom, wit, humor, faith, and the outpouring of love he showed to everyone who surrounded him. No matter the distance or time zones his family spanned, Mark shared his mother's desire to maintain strong family connections by prioritizing family, living with open arms, and never missing a chance for a birthday phone call.

Mark is preceded in death by his mother, Esther Mary Adams, and his father, Owen Elwin Adams. He is survived by his three daughters: Kimberly (Justin) Runion, Jennifer (Michael) O'Driscoll, and Sarah (Zachory) Potter; his five grandchildren: Tristan, Caden, Charlotte, Andrew, and Colin; and his seven nieces and nephews: Angela, Laura, Lindsay, Victoria, Sean, Faolan, and Brennan.

His funeral service will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 8th at 2:00 p.m., with a celebration of life gathering to follow. Mark will then be laid to rest beside his mother and father at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Panama City, Florida, with military honors.

Mark left this world too soon, but not without leaving his mark-and we are all better for having known him. Well done, good and faithful servant.

"May the road rise up to meet you, May the wind be always at your back, May the sun shine warm upon your face, The rains fall soft upon your fields, And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand."

In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Mark's philanthropic spirit are encouraged to donate to a charity of their choice in his memory.

Yesterday

Mark was a true gentleman! If you knew Mark you were well aware of his desire to help either with his technology knowledge or his kindness. He was known for his love of his children and family always making others aware how proud he was of them. He left many trasured memories for all of his family, friends and associates!
