May 31, 1949 - June 1, 2023
Macon, Georgia - Martha Yates Thomas, age 74, of Macon, Georgia passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023. A Celebration of her Life will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Northminster Presbyterian Church. Burial will be private for family only in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Dr. Ralph Hawkins will officiate. The family will greet friends following the service in the sanctuary. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Northminster Presbyterian Church, 565 Wimbish Road, Macon 31210 or All About Animals, 101 Riverside Drive, Macon 31201.
Martha was born in Montgomery, Alabama the daughter of the late Fain Teasley Yates and Leroy Benjamin Yates and was the widow of Richard Dale Thomas. She was a graduate of Wesleyan College where she received a double major in Chemistry and Biology. Martha retired from Stratford Academy after 19 years of teaching and was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church.
Martha is survived by her children, Richard James Thomas of Macon; Elizabeth Thomas DellaDonna (Jody) of Macon; grandchildren, Mary Shelton Thomas, Andrew Yates Thomas, and Maria Ann DellaDonna; several nieces and nephews and her cousin, Thomas Rice (Julie).
