Macon, GA- Mary Ann Irby,86, passed away September 12, 2016. A celebration of her life will be held at 5:30 PM on Monday, September 19, 2016 at Vineville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Jacksonville, FL at a later date. The family will greet friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Vineville Methodist Church, 2045 Vineville Ave., Macon, GA 31204 or American Lung Association of Georgia, 2452 Spring Rd, SE, Smyrna, GA 30080 or to The Methodist Home, 304 Pierce Ave., Macon, GA 31204
Mrs. Irby was born in Jacksonville, FL to the late John William Holden and the late Margaret Frazee Holden. She was a dedicated registered nurse for 45 years. Mrs. Irby was member of Vineville Methodist Church and the Ed Cook Sunday School class. She was preceded in death by her five siblings and her husband, Joe Griffin Irby, Jr. Mrs. Irby was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Cheryl (Bill) Adams of Macon, GA and Scott Irby; daughter-in-law Judy Irby, both of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Kevin Adams (Katie), Brian Adams (Amy), Stephen Adams (Kate); great grandchildren, Ellie Adams, Griffin Adams, Annie Adams, and Everett Adams; sister-in-laws, Betty Fowler (Loyd) and Ann Whitmire; brother, Russell Poulton (Sheri); and numerous nieces and nephews.

You’ve been gone 8 years and I still miss you every day!! Life is definitely not the same without you. Your family has grown and you would love them all so much!! Every time I see a butterfly or a cardinal, I think of you and Daddy and feel it’s a reminder that y’all are still with us in so many ways. I love and miss you both!!❤❤

Still think of Mary Ann each and every time the pansies are in bloom as I recall the gorgeous bed of pansies she would plant each year in the front yard which we always enjoyed viewing. Still miss her so much......think of her often. She was a treasure!

We are very familiar with the Irby family through our connection with the Landon Alumni Assn. Every time I would see the name Irby, I would associate it with the family members who attended Landon High School. Our deepest sympathy goes out to the family.

Cheryl, Scott, and family members, you are in our thoughts and prayers. Never have we had better neighbors than Mary Ann and Joe here in Jacksonville. We will forever remember them; Mary Ann and Joe were very special to us. We will forever treasure the recipe she left with me.
