Pierce Cumpton Obituary

Pierce E. Cumpton -WARNER ROBINS - Pierce Erastus Cumpton, 80, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2007. -Mr. Cumpton was born on November 3, 1926 in Twiggs County, Georgia. He was a member of Oakland Baptist Church. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Mr. Cumpton served during WWII aboard the USS Caiman. Pierce retired from civil service at Robins Air Force Base where he was Chief of the Budget Finance Branch for Det 8 2762d Logistics Squadron. Mr. Cumpton was a member of the Tyrian Masonic Lodge #111 F&AM. His parents, Pierce E. Cumpton, Sr. and Lena Wimberly Cumpton, brothers, Ermon and Clarence Compton, all preceded him in death. -He will be missed by his loving wife, Joan Fields Cumpton, Warner Robins; children and their spouses, Michael and Lisa Cumpton, Saint Augustine, FL; Terrell and Chris Cumpton, Marietta, GA; Penny and Dennis Engbrock, Myrtle Beach, SC; four grandchildren, brother, Donald Compton, Lizella, GA; sisters, Yvonne Elliott, Warner Robins, GA; Julia Pelt, Macon, GA; and several nieces and nephews. -Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2007, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery. -Go to www.mcculloughfh.com to sign the Online Registry for the family. -McCullough Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
