Warner Robins, GA- Shirley Ann Bland Atkins, 76, went to be her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 9, 2019. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00PM on Monday January 14, 2019 at Christ United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be private.
Shirley was born on June 2, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Lawrence and Margaret Bland. She was a long time member of Christ United Methodist Church where she was involved with her Sunday Class (Serenity Sunday School Class). She was the Treasurer for the Lydia Circle and volunteered with the Houston Medical Center Auxiliary. She worked on Robins Air Force for 15 years. In her free time she loved to read, shop, and sew, however her greatest joy was her family whom she dearly loved, especially her grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother and sister who will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by parents.
Her memory will forever be cherished by loving husband of 58 years, Harry Atkins; 3 children, Debra Jones (Tal); Marvin Atkins (Sonja), Delisa Rodriquez (Louis); grandchildren, Clarrissa Talley (Adam), Tony Rodriquez, Ashley Milligan (Caleb), Kayce Slayton; great grandchildren, Addison Talley, Dean Talley, Brantley Talley, Iris Milligan; brothers and sister, Richard Carter (Marilyn), James Brown (Theresa), Patricia Pope.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Houston County Auxiliary, 1601 Watson Blvd., Warner Robins, GA. 31093.
Heritage Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
