My deepest sympathy to Barbara and their children, Jim, Ginger and Charlie, and all the family.
"Tommy", as we called him, was everybody's favorite in our extended family. My sister and I are the daughters of Tommy's first cousin, Charlene Phillips. Tommy and Mom adored each other and so we visited our Atlanta relatives frequently during our childhood years - so many happy memories! Tommy's distinctive voice-his Georgia dialect ("Shah - lene", he'd call our mom) and particular way of expressing himself -always fascinated me and brought comfort, especially as the years went by. His wry sense of humor, hinting that there was something more just beneath the surface, captured my imagination even as a child. As all those who knew him have observed, he genuinely loved being outdoors, fishing and hunting with passion. I also remember his loving classical music, collecting recordings of various orchestras and pursuing a broad range of musical interests. He would tell us in recent years that his favorite movie was "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil", which he watched many times. He loved a good story and rich characters, deeply rooted in the good qualities of his southern culture. He never forgot - indeed, he was compelled - to show his love for others. He always brightened a room with his presence, and I will always be inspired by Tommy Porch. My mother, sister and I are deeply saddened by his passing. Love, Julie

Tommy, Tommy, Tommy! I hear your voice even now - the comfort of it, the emotion, the love. My entire life I have known you and loved you and Barbara, and Jim, Ginger, and Charlie. No matter our distances, no matter our differences, you have always been FAMILY. And always will be. I will miss you in this world, dear cousin.

I'll always remember when you would come to Montgomery, Alabama back in the 60's.
We would work a little and then go fishing in the early evening. Those were the good ole days. Rest in peace, my friend.
