Wilda B. Saunders, 96, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, October 15, 2021. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, October 18, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Darity officiating. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Andrew Christian Church, 6220 Thomaston Road, Macon GA 31220 or Samaritans Purse, 5755 N. Point Parkway, Unite 9, Alpharetta GA 30022.
Wilda was born on October 8, 1925 in Pike County, Georgia to the late John G. and Nettye Milner Buffington. Wilda was a 1943 graduate of Spaulding County High School in Griffin, GA. She retired from Cigna Insurance Company after 25 ½ years of service in the Premium Audit Department as a manager of the processing unit.
Wilda was a charter member of St. Andrew Christian Church. She served on the Church Board as Church Clerk, Deaconess Emeritus and Trustee, member of the Loyal Leaders Sunday School Class, treasurer for Christian Womens Fellowship and Friendship Circle.
Wilda was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, George G. Saunders; sisters; Melba Gowan, Hazel Edwards; brothers; Floyd, Walter, Maurie, Ercil, Terrell, J.G., Simeon Buffington.
Wilda is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Carl Sheppard; numerous nieces and nephews.
