William Shively Obituary

William "Bill" Shively
September 10, 1948 - November 11, 2021
Hawkinsville, Georgia - William "Bill" Shively, 73, departed this life to enter his eternal home on November 11, 2021 with his loving wife and two daughters by his side in his Hawkinsville, GA home. His battle with cancer through the years showed his hope and desire to do anything and everything to beat this ugly disease. Despite the pain, treatments, and the many side effects Bill came out the hero and stayed strong until the end. Born on September 10, 1948 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Everett (Jake) and Faitha Shively.
He graduated from Wayne High School in 1967, Huber Heights, Ohio where he met his wife, Vickie. He actively served four years in the U.S Navy after high school. Aside from working for Wright Patterson Air Force Base and later transferring to Robins Air Force Base where he retired with a combined 31 years of federal service, Bill was never one to sit around. He could be found on the golf course at Southern Hills. Bill was an amazingly talented golfer which won him many tournaments, six hole-in-ones, and was a highly regarded competitor. Additionally, his love of the game brought many trips with several of his golf buddies which he often reminisced about. While Bill had a great life, to him none were greater than that of his family. Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Vickie (Officer) Shively; his two daughters; Holly (Shively) Wynne and husband, Tim of Hawkinsville, Georgia; Heather (Shively) Reittinger and Jeremy of Tipp City, Ohio; and six wonderful grandchildren; Carrie Margaret Wynne, Jake Shively (Wynne), Presley Wynne, Olivia Reittinger, Rhyan Reittinger, and Reece Reittinger. He leaves behind one sister, Janet Baugh of Tipp City, Ohio; brother-in-law, Ed (Judy) Officer; sister-in-law, Teresa (Dan) Young; sister-in-law, Jamie Myers; several nieces and nephews; and cousins all whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother; James (Jim) Shively.
The family will be having a Memorial Service on December 1, 2021 at Marker & Heller Funeral home in Huber Heights, Ohio from 4-5PM. A Celebration of Life for local family and friends will be held at the family home in Hawkinsville Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 5:30PM.
