Brian Maxwell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mathis Funeral Home - Cochran on Mar. 13, 2026.
Brian Wayne Maxwell, age 52, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Taylor Regional Hospital in Hawkinsville, Georgia. His life will be celebrated with funeral services on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Following the service, family and friends are invited to share memories and offer support. In honor of Brian's vibrant spirit and passions, attendees are encouraged to wear casual University of Georgia, tropical, or golf attire.

Born in Warner Robins and raised in Cochran, Brian was a proud graduate of Bleckley County High School's class of 1991. He continued his education at Middle Georgia College before transferring to the University of Georgia. There, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Forest Resources from the School of Forestry. Professionally, Brian worked as a supervisor for Cemex.

A diehard Georgia football fan, Brian was known for his enthusiastic cheers of "How 'bout them Dawgs!" He was an avid golfer who spent countless hours perfecting his game at Uchee Trail Golf Course. Whether on the greens or cheering from the stands, Brian's energy and enthusiasm for life were contagious.

Brian cared deeply for his entire family and was preceded in death by his sister, Niki Maxwell.

He is survived by his children: Darci Maxwell and Caden (Chloe) Maxwell, all of Athens; his parents: Donna and Herman F. "Tex" Maxwell of Cochran; his loving companion, Monica Martin Bass and her son Hudson Bass; as well as several cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation of Georgia at 1775 The Exchange SE #200, Atlanta, GA 30339.

Brian's legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering support for those he held dear. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him as they celebrate the remarkable life he lived.
