Almay went to Minneapolis Business School and worked at Tandy Leather for a couple of years after high school. She started corresponding with Bob, who was the brother of her roommate Elaine, while he was in the service. They began dating when he returned and married the next year and began a family while Bob was in college at Platteville. The family lived in Minnesota and Illinois before finally moving to Prairie du Sac 51 years ago. She chose to remain a homemaker until her youngest was out of school. After this, she held a variety of jobs, ending as church secretary which she held for ten years.
After retirement, Almay volunteered at the gift shop at the hospital for many years. She was very involved in church activities and had been in the same Bible Study circle for 51 years where she made many lifelong friends. Almay will be missed for her ready smile and great sense of humor. Grandma was always up for a game of cards and other games and loved spending time with family and friends.
